We are glad to announce that Dam has been awarded a grant from Arts Council England and the British Council as part of their Artists’ International Development Fund to lead a research project in collaboration with Arabesque Dance Company, a Vietnam based dance company. The project will happen over a month in January 2014 in Ho Chi Minh City and conclude with a sharing of the work in progress on Saturday 25 January.

This project will allow Dam to witness the contemporary dance scene in Vietnam and gain a stronger sense of personal artistic development in his country of origin. He would like this project to lead towards new discoveries regarding the essence of Vietnamese culture and display the concept of modernity from different points of view.

Jamie Hamilton – Composer and regular collaborator of Van Huynh Company – will join Dam to record sounds and traditional music from Vietnam reinforcing the main focus around Vietnamese identity.
