Dam is currently creating a new work for the National Company of Mexico – CEPRODAC (Centro de Producción de Danza Contemporánea).
Groovething will premiere on Thursday 14 February at Teatro de la Danza – Centro Cultural del Bosque in Mexico City.
Synopsis:
Groovething is a look on cultural heritage, what makes us unique and what unites us. Celebrating freedom of speech and expression for a better understanding of our roots.
The ultimate discovery hides in the unravelling of one’s origins. Exploring the past to better understand the present.
Responding to a heavily dense environment riddled with prohibition, the work instead embraces a celebration of dance and joy.
Movement exploration becomes a key into our inner world, unlocking hidden elements from within our selves.
Groovething brings a blend of cultures into one space and forces us to be both spectators and curious investigators of our contemporary environment.
Unhealed scars, unsolved questions paving the way, a catalyst of our fears and hopes, the dance unleashes our most intimate thoughts turning them into a visual feast for the eyes.
